The first Congress of Worker-communism Unity Party

 

The first Congress of WUP was held on 18-22 February 2011 in Germany. The majority of the delegates, observers and guests attended.

1- The first session opened by a welcome speech from Ali Javadi, the secretary of the Central Committee, the International song, a minute silence in memory of all those who lost their lives for freedom and socialism and in commemoration of Mansoor Hekmat. A special moment was given for the memory of those who lost their lives in the recent uprisings in the Middle-East and North Africa.

Four members of the Stirring Committee presented their speeches on the following topics: Ali Javadi on “the special position of the party”; Siavash Daneshvar on “the end of an era and challenges facing Worker-communism”; Nasrin Ramenzanali on “the position of the Party within the working class in Iran”; and Azar Majedi on “Party and the Worker-communism movement, Party and political power”. A discussion followed these presentations. Nico Dessaux, representative of the Worker-communist Initiative (France, Belgium) delivered their message to the Congress. (All the discussions in the Congress were translated from Farsi into English for Nico by Maryam Kousha).

2- The second session was about reports of Party activities which were discussed extensively. A slide show about these activities was shown. These reports were presented by: Azar Majedi about the general activities of the Party, its weaknesses and strengths; Nasrin Ramenzanali (organising committee) about our work within the working class in Iran; Magid Postanchi (the IT department and radio) about the progress and feedbacks on the internet/satellite Party radio programmes; Sirvan Ghaderi (the Bureau in defense of refugee rights) about their work regarding the situation of refugees; Shahla Noori (treasury) about the financial situation of the Party; and Maryam Kousha (International committee) about translations and radio programme of Mansoor Hekmat Foundation.

3- The third session included discussions on the proposed resolutions. The resolution “Worker-communism Unity Party and political power” was adopted after discussions and some corrections. The resolution “The perspective of poverty and destitution and the position of Worker-communism in the current political developments” raised heated discussions. It was adopted with the provision of changes and the final approval was delegated to the Politburo.

Other resolutions adopted were: a selection of documents, resolutions of the Worker-communism Unity Party; the formation of Committee Abroad; the formation of Party circles abroad and publication of Mansoor Hekmat’s literature.

4- Two fringe seminars were also held: Azar Majedi on “stronger Party organisation and unity for power”; Siavash Daneshvar on “international situation, revolutionary developments in the Middle-East and North Africa and the policy of Worker-communism”. The discussion round the former seminar focused on the necessity of more disciplined Party unity and organisation, especially in terms of holding regular meetings abroad. The discussions on the latter focused on the international situation with a specific analysis of the popular uprisings in the Middle-East and North Africa. It was emphasized that these uprisings have an anti-capitalist character. The deep economic crisis of capitalism and its devastating consequences especially in the last 2 years were also discussed. The Congress issued a message of solidarity with the protesting people of these regions.

5- The Congress elected the Central Committee. They are: Homa Arjomand (Canada), Mahmood Ahmadi (Canada), Ahmad Babayee (Canada), Jalil Behroozi (Canada), Kamran Paydar (Iran), Magid Postanchi (Holland), Ali Javadi (USA), Faxri Javaheri (Canada), Siavash Daneshvar (Sweden), Nasrin Ramezanali (Germany), Mehyar Shahi (Iran), Jamshid Azizi (Iran), Sirvan Ghaderi (UK), Parvin Kaboli (Sweden), Maryam Kousha (UK), Mehrdad Kousha (Iran), Azar Majedi (UK), Saeed Modanloo (USA), Pedram Noandish (Iran), Shahla Noori (Sweden), and Karim Noori (Sweden).

After the Congress, the Central Committee met for its first meeting and elected Ali Javadi as the leader and the Politburo consisting of: Mahmood Ahmadi, Jalil Behroozi, Ali Javadi, Siavash Daneshvar, Nasrin Ramezanali, Sirvan Ghaderi, Maryam Kousha, Azar Majedi, Saeed Modanloo and shahla Noori. The Central Committee then held its meeting and elected the stirring committee: Jalil Bejroozi, Ali Javadi, Siavash Daneshvar, Nasrin Ramezanali, and Azar Majedi.

6- Azar Majedi thanked the organising committee and welcomed Hamed Mohamadi, who became a member of the Party.

7- The Congress came to an end with viewing the speech of Mansoor Hekmat in the third Congress of Worker-communist Party. The International song concluded the Congress.
